Madam Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly, I would like to take this opportunity to recognize all those Canadians who gave their lives in the defence of democracy and the freedom we too often take for granted. I would particularly like to recognize northern Canadians who have sacrificed so much for us.

As Deputy Commissioner of the Northwest Territories, it gives me great pleasure to assent to the following bills: Bill 1, Appropriation Act, No. 1, 1995-96; Bill 2, Aboriginal Custom Adoption Recognition Act; Bill 3, Guardianship and Trusteeship Act; Bill 7, An Act to Amend the Arctic College Act; Bill 13, An Act to Amend the Motor Vehicles Act; Bill 14, An Act to Repeal the Public Service Vehicles Act; Bill 15, An Act to Amend the Legislative Assembly and Executive Council Act; Bill 16, An Act to Amend the Legislative Assembly and Executive Council Act, No. 2; Bill 17, An Act to Amend the Legislative Assembly and Executive Council Act, No. 3; Bill 18, Supplementary Appropriation Act, No. 4, 1993-94; Bill 19, Supplementary Appropriation Act, No. 1, 1994-95; and, Bill 20, An Act to Amend the Student Financial Assistance Act.

Madam Speaker, and Members of the Legislative Assembly, prior to proroguing this session, as Deputy Commissioner, I wish to announce that the Seventh Session of the 12th Legislative Assembly will convene on Monday, November 14, 1994, at 1:30 pm, in Yellowknife.
