Executive Council (Cabinet)

After each territorial election the elected MLAs meet in a Territorial Leadership Committee (TLC) to select a Speaker, Premier and Executive Council (or 'Cabinet'). The Premier is elected by all MLAs and appointed by the Commissioner of the Northwest Territories. MLAs select an Executive Council from the remaining members, based on a formula of two from the North, two from the South and two from the Yellowknife area.

Cabinet Portfolios are determined by the Premier.
