    March 9, 2011 Passed Thank you, Mr. Speaker. I move, seconded by the honourable Member for Monfwi, that Bill 1, An Act to Amend the Legislative Assembly and Executive Council Act, be read for the second time. Mr. Speaker, Bill 1 amends the Legislative Assembly and Executive Council Act to implement recommendations of the Independent Commission to Review Members’ Compensation and Benefits and to make other adjustments related to Members’ compensation and benefits. Provisions are added respecting former Members and conflicts of interest, including an amendment to extend the jurisdiction of the Conflict of Interest Commissioner over former Members respecting alleged contraventions that occurred during a former Member’s time as a Member. The bill also makes a number of changes to the act and comes into force on the polling day for the general election that follows the dissolution of the 16 th Legislative Assembly.
