Mr. Speaker, I move, seconded by the honourable Member for Inuvik Twin Lakes, that Bill 2, Missing Persons Act, be read for the second time.

The proposed Missing Persons Act will enhance the RCMP's ability to investigate missing persons cases and will allow them to move more quickly with these investigations.

The bill also reflects the commitment made by the Government of the Northwest Territories to develop missing persons legislation as set out in the government's response to the Calls for Justice of the National Inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls. Thank you, Mr. Speaker.
