Thank you, Mr. Chairman. I would like to ask the Minister a concrete question about the government's involvement in the Makivik offshore claim in James Bay. I would like to ask the Minister: what our government's role is in these negotiations; what our status is; whether there are limits on our status; and, what position the GNWT is taking on

two issues that I understand are the subject of the Makivik claim. One, the proposal to create a giant wildlife management regime between the NWT, Quebec and aboriginal organizations for joint wildlife management; and, two, on possible claims for land on offshore islands that are within the jurisdiction of the Northwest Territories by the Makivik Corporation.
