Thank you, Mr. Chairman. The Social Programs Committee has looked into this and there is very little material for teachers to use when they are working with children that are affected by fetal alcohol syndrome and fetal alcohol affects. It is very difficult to work with these children because of the way the alcohol has affected them. It is almost like things do not connect. If you look at a circuit, it could be that part of a circle is missing, so it does not quite connect. For that reason, teachers have a hard time with children and they need to develop some type of manual which can be used across the north. It would not only be for one area, for one school, for one region or whatever, it could be designed so people right across the north could use it. We did contact the teachers in the Yellowknife schools and we were informed that there is very little to use and it is a very complex area and they would greatly appreciate anything that we can do to assist them.
