Wendy Bisaro Frame Lake
Mr. Chair, I would like to ask a question in regard to the bypass road in Yellowknife. I know I’ve asked this question before, but I would like to see if the Minister has changed his mind or if the department has changed their mind. This project is a total of $7 million, and it’s being cost shared with the City of Yellowknife. My understanding is that the GNWT funding will come from Building Canada funds, which need to be matched 75-25. So in effect they’re 75-cent dollars. It’s also my understanding that the department’s position is that this project will be cost shared with the City of Yellowknife on a 50-50 basis. I’d like to ask the Minister, since we’re using federal dollars for the GNWT portion, why we’re not cost-sharing this with Yellowknife on a 75-25 basis.
