Thank you, Mr. Chairman. The department currently funds schools based on a funding framework. It varies with enrolments, collective costs such as collective agreements. The formula for inclusive schooling will not be changed. There are no plans to change that formula.

What the new approach means is that the department will be no longer be adjusting the formula to match a particular percentage of overall school funding. This will avoid having to change the formula every year and it also avoids potential difficulties in determining a percentage in overall school funding when the approach or when there are transfers to other departments such as utility transfer, so it simplifies things in that area.
