Thank you Mr. Speaker. I move, seconded by the Honourable Member for Aivilik, that Bill 21, An Act to Amend the Access to Information and Protection of Privacy Act, be read for the second time. Mr. Speaker, this bill amends the Access to Information and Protection of Privacy Act, to provide that the term of an information and privacy commission appointed before March 31, 1999, expires on March 31, 1999. The bill repeals the provision that deems employees of the office of the Information and Privacy Commission to be members of the public service, and also repeals a provision requiring that the directory produced under the Act, contain a general description of the various categories of records controlled by public bodies.
