The next item is the Chair's opening remarks. I would like to make a couple of comments before we move on. I do not intend to make a lengthy speech or opening remarks as I am sure all Members and the public who are watching us today know why the Territorial Leadership Committee is meeting. However, for those who might not be aware, this is the second meeting of the Territorial Leadership Committee being conducted during the term of the 14th Legislative Assembly. The first leadership committee was held in January of 2000 when we elected the Speaker, Premier and Cabinet Members by secret ballot.
Today we will elect one of our Members who represents the southern constituencies. This is based on the two-two-two regional balance in Cabinet. The southern constituencies are the Deh Cho, Hay River North, Hay River South, Nahendeh, Thebacha and Tu Nedhe. I am sure that you are now ready to begin the process which is in front of you and is also available to the public at the entrance to the people's public gallery.
