Mr. Chairman, I may have missed it, but I just wondered whether the document Mr. Antoine requested would include a breakdown of costs to see how much is being spent on airplanes. I raised a question before, Mr. Chairman, about the amount of money spent on aircraft from outside of the territories. It would be interesting to know how much money we're sending out of the territories, through water bomber contracts.
We have companies in the Northwest Territories that want to get into the business of fire fighting using aircraft, seeing as that is the thing being used a lot more now than ground people. We would like to see northern companies getting involved, instead of spending this tremendous amount of money outside of the territories for specialized aircraft. It is time, maybe, that some of that money be spent on conversion of aircraft in the territories, for aircraft and operators based here, so that some of this money can stay in the territories.
I would certainly be interested in seeing that included in the breakdown the Minister is going to be providing on how much money is being spent for fighting fires. Thank you.
