Mr. Speaker, this department, along with the Department of Economic Development and Tourism, is interested in finding ways that would allow for the commercial sale of wild meat in the Territories that would also be acceptable for export and sale to commercial outlets in the South.
It is also a problem here in the Northwest Territories that many commercial outlets and institutions are hesitant to buy and serve wild meat obtained under commercial tags for the purpose of including it on their menus because of the possible liability that would be created since they aren't inspected and approved by federal inspectors.
