The last one of the general motions. Motion 7 is on government accountability and the legislative action paper. In March 1992, the Minister of Justice tabled in the Legislative Assembly, a paper entitled "Government Accountability, a Legislative Action Paper on Access to Government." The committee supports the creation of an office of an ombudsman, independently reporting to the Legislative Assembly to provide an appeal process where all statutory avenues for complaint or objection have failed. This office, combined with the Access to Information will help to protect the rights and cultural integrity of all of our people. With that I would like to move motion 7-12(2).
I move that the government recommends that the proposed access to government legislation be advanced for incorporation into the 1993-94 main estimates.
