Thank you, Mr. Chairman. That is good to hear. I certainly hope he is considering increasing that amount. Mr. Chairman, I have another question with respect to the NWT Association of Municipalities administrators. There has been $5,000 that was created in 1992-93 and it is in the proposed budget of 1993-94, basically to assist the association in providing support to its members through training seminars and meetings. I would suspect that this certainly is not sufficient. However, does the Minister's department feel this is an adequate amount of funding to assist the association in providing support to its members for training seminars and meetings? Thank you.

Mr. Chairman, page 11-15 contains $42.724 million, which consists the breakdown of pages 11-17 and 11-18 of municipal operations and assessment, grants and contributions. In order for me, as a Member, to give support to approving page 11-15, I have to know the details of pages 11-17 and 11-18. Thank you.

Thank you, Mr. Chairman. I agree with the Member. That money is probably not sufficient for them to do their programming. The association of municipal administrators is a very small organization. There are very few members. This is not all the support they receive from us. In fact, we are trying to develop some training programs with them to meet some of their needs and to meet our obligations under some of our goals and objectives. We also help them out in different ways. For example, we help pay for some of their transportation as well. This is basically some of the seed money to get them going, to encourage them to get together and keep their organization going. I agree that is not enough, but through the time of restraint, that is about all we could keep in there at this time. We are reviewing it with them as well. We help them from other areas of the department with transportation to get them together. We sponsor some of their workshops and a few other things.

Thank you. If the Minister would reconsider looking at that amount, I would appreciate it. Mr. Chairman, this particular activity allows for funding to support community self-government. Additional emphasis is being placed on training and development of municipal representatives and officials. Structured workshops, courses and provision of resource material are being used to support local governments. How much of this funding is identified in this particular activity to do such a task? Thank you.

If the Member is asking how much money we have in the training area for that type of support, it is blended in through the entire department. In this particular one, I think we have about $80,000 in the budget for that, but there is also money in other areas, such as sport and recreation and community works, where we do some of the same training. This is where some of our training money is.

Thank you, Mr. Chairman. Is this money identified in the form of grants and contributions?

Mr. Chairman, no it is not identified in grants and contributions because it is money which is held internally to assist with training and also to do some in-house training so that we can get people trained to do the training. The money is not part of grants and contributions. It is under other O and M.

Mr. Chairman, in addition to the $42 million which is identified as grants and contributions, if you review page 11-17 and the top of page 11-18, what additional amounts are identified for grants and contributions? Thank you.
